Description

Randy is a 2017 buckskin Quarter Horse gelding standing at 15.2 hands—quality through and through. Stamped with America's favorite color, this striking gelding has so much to offer. Randy rides Western, English, bareback, or whatever strikes your fancy. He is safe, sane, and very calm in every aspect of his life, with an ample amount of training in the arena and a great deal of exposure outside on the trails and throughout the ranch. Always quiet, gentle, and easy to handle on the ground and on his back, his ground manners are impeccable—always sweet and respectful. He is your model citizen gelding all the way around, standing quiet as a church mouse to groom, bathe, tack up, and mount up. He will side pass over to the mounting block, fence, or lay down with a touch of the finger for you to climb aboard. Randy is beginner friendly, very tolerant, and unbothered by mistakes or miscues—never anxious or worried about different places or new situations. He has a solid reining foundation and lopes soft collected circles with a supple face and ribcage, nice spins, rollbacks, and side passes. He steers great with a one-handed neck rein and stays right in between the reins—wherever you point him, he goes. Randy is a very graceful and elegant mover with the smoothest, most comfortable and easy-to-sit gaits. With an impressive big long trot, a slow jog you can enjoy all day, and his lope is slow, steady, and pleasant. Randy looks absolutely stunning under an English saddle and has Western dressage written all over him. We have started him over small jumps and obstacles, and he loves it—never says no and will cross anything in his path. Randy spent the first few riding years of his life hitting the trails—he has seen every national forest and state park in our region. Accustomed to mountains in the desert and high country, all types of water features, roaming wildlife, and overnight camping, he's a soldier outside and will take care of his rider—not spooky or watchy in any way. Very sure-footed, he knows where his feet are at all times. Randy is very useful all over the ranch—good in sorting pens, gathered lots of cattle, tracked a lead steer in the arena, and roped on him as well. He follows right in behind a steer and tracks them nicely. Accustomed to busy traffic, bicycles, motorcycles, gunfire, dogs, tarps, and machinery. Randy is always a pleasure to ride in the arena, out on the trails, or anywhere on the ranch. Hard to find a horse with his size that has a modern day, black-type pedigree.
