Bashiru is an extraordinary 2014 palomino Quarter Horse gelding standing at 14.2 hands. Bought as a three-year-old, he had an incredible mind from the start. Alice began riding in front of Bashiru when she was just one year old, and when she was ready to ride on her own, Bashiru was the obvious choice. He took care of her from the first ride on, and as her skills progressed, he became more responsive while still being responsive to an experienced rider. Bashiru has never done one thing that concerned us for Alice's safety. He can be laid off for months and always catches up broke, soft, and responsive. Not lazy at all, he is incredibly gentle, super-minded, and performs to the level of his rider's ability. He has an incredible walk and is smooth in all gaits. Alice has ridden him on multiple 20-mile cattle drives, done a lot of cattle work in and out of pens, and many shorter drives. Bashiru has been exposed to everything: ranch work, crossing rivers, wildlife, deadfall timber, highway traffic, riding all over town, at night, among loose horses, and even ponying horses for a five-year-old. He rides in a bit or hackamore, is good to catch anywhere (even in a herd without grain), moves off your leg for side-passing and opening gates. Bashiru is an easy keeper and has never colicked. If you want a horse to teach your small child to ride without worrying about safety, plus something Mom or Dad can also enjoy, Bashiru is the one.
