Tessy

Description

Tessy is a 2014 tobiano Quarter Horse mare standing at 16 hands—a stocky built 1450lb mare with some very nice markings. We bought Tessy from an Amish kid in Michigan who trained her with natural horsemanship methods. She is trained to lay down for mounting from the ground or dismount from the saddle—a great tool for anyone with knee or hip issues or if you are handicapped. In addition to laying down, she will bow and sit like a dog and play kick the can. She has been taught all about leg pressure and will ride without a bridle, using a rein around her neck or just your feet to back, spin, turn, side pass both ways, lope, and slide stop. She has been camping, used around cows, trail ridden hundreds of miles, and hooked up and driven under a harness. We have ponied other horses off her and used her to break colts to lead. She has been ridden around farm equipment, ATVs, over large noisy tarps, and with guns shot off her back. No matter where she goes or what she does, Tessy is not spooky acting. Exposed to all kinds of wildlife, she goes anywhere asked. With many miles in the mountains of California, she has encountered every obstacle possible on the trail—going up or down steep slopes, across deep creeks, over downed trees, and all types of rough terrain while staying sure-footed. She has been ridden in traffic and is very traffic safe around cars, semis, log trucks, and dump trucks. She is one of the friendliest horses you'll find—she will follow you around and even go for a jog with you. She has a great attitude about whatever she is asked to do.
